Texans’ wide receiver Andre Johnson left on game-time call for return – NFL News
The Houston Texans have left their wide receiver Andre Johnson for a game-time decision on his recovery from a hamstring injury and joining their squad in their game against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday.
Johnson was injured in Texans game against the visiting Atlanta Falcons on past Sunday. He has not joined his side for practice this week, and their coach Gary Kubiak said that he expected him to a game-time decision.
"I would say we would probably have a pretty good idea (Friday)," Kubiak told reporters. "We'll see. It's a touchy situation because we are very fortunate we came out of it a lot better than we thought. At the same time, how quick
do we go back and that type of thing?"
MRI scans results earlier this week revealed that Johnson's injury was not as serious as the one he had suffered in initial part of this season and it is expected that he will be back to their side for the Sunday's game.
The player had not joined his side for practice on Thursday. He however does workout in a swimming pool giving his coach some hopes for return to the injuries riddled Texans' side.
Johnson had already missed six games consecutively due to a hamstring injury earlier this season. The latest scare however is more alarming for the Texans as they hardly have settled down with their problems at quarterback position.
They have tried as many as six players at quarterback position. Three of them (T.J. Yates, Jake Delhomme and Jeff Garcia) will play for the side this week, two (Matt Schaub and Matt Leinart) are out for injuries and one (Kellen
Clemens) waived off.
Kubiak said that he felt 'fortunate' that Johnson's injury was not severe.
Johnson's participation in the next game will also be good news for Texans new quarterback T.J.Yates who has good backing from the wide receiver.
Yates has been backed by the coach and senior players for starting role at their quarterback position in their next game against the Bengals.
The coach meanwhile said that he expected their linebacker Brian Cushing joining their squad for practice on Friday. Cushing had not joined the team for practice on Thursday.
