Late in a tournament I have pocket 3's vs A10. Board comes all 5 spades including the 2 of spades. I have the 3 of spades the other guy has no spades. So we both have the same top 4 cards K spade J spade 7 spade and 4 spade, my 5 card is 3 of spades and his is 2 of spades. The dealer said it was a spilt pot, but don't I have the better hand? I said I have the better flush but he said the chop. What is the rule on that?

  1. Well...you won the pot with your 3 of spades the dealer was wrong unless the 5 community cards were all spades higher than your 3 of spades. But you said there was 5 spades and one was a 2... so he was wrong I'd go back and b****.

  2. i would say the better flush would be your 3s 4s 7s Js Ks -vs- his 2s 4s 7s Js Ks.

Flush: A flush is any hand with five cards of the same suit. If two or more players hold a flush, the flush with the highest card wins. If more than one player has the same strength high card, then the strength of the second highest card held wins. This continues through the five highest cards in the player's hands.

  3. The board has all 5 spades it is chopped, if there was no spade on the river then yes you would have won, but you play the board before the cards in your hand. There is no cheating this is a fair call, good luck next time.

  4. If there are 5 spades on the board, One must have a spade HIGHER than a king (Ace) to win the pot. Otherwise it is a split pot.

  5. Yeah the board doesn't play "first," the top 5 cards play, so your 3 plays and you win..... hope there wasn't a lot of money in the pot.
