  1. 2 pairs always beats one pair no matter what the one pair is

  2. Come on, we learned this in Sesame Street that 2 is more than 1...

  3. Any set of two pair beats any pair.

    For example, 2-2-3-3-4 beats A-A-K-Q-J.

    From highest to lowest:

Straight Flush (five sequential cards of the same suit)

    Four of a Kind

    Full House (a three-of-a-kind plus a pair)

Flush (any five cards of the same suit)

Straight (five sequential cards of any suit)

    Three of a Kind

    Two Pair

    Pair

    High Card

(Note: some people will start the list with "Royal Flush" - I don't feel the need to, as a Royal Flush is simply an Ace-High Straight Flush.)

  4. two pair is better than 1 pair no matter what it's a pair of

  5. Two pair always beats one pair.  Even if one pair is aces and two pair is twos and threes.

Before you even attempt to learn poker, a prerequisite is that you learn what hands beat what.  Without that, you'll not be able to play the game.  I've added a link for you.
