Question:

Texas Holdem Cheaters?

I had a bad beat today. It was because of foul play. I went to the casino, and played some Texas Holdem No Limit, and the man to the Left of me kept trying to see my cards when i would get them. He would almost EVERY time, bend back a little bit to see if i had any good cards. He eventually forced me to put my chips in before the flop and my pocket queens didnt hold up. After i pushed all my chips in he said "What do you got ace Queen?" and i Ignored him.

Even the Floor manager came to our table and stared the man to my left down because he could see what hes doing.

maybe i could have said something, but does anybody know your rights for a Texas Holdem game?

  1. yeah sounds like a tilt play that worked. his actions, though probably ineffective, made you play differently.

  2. cover up man as long hes in his chair and his space he can try and get a peak

  3. I would say that he simply psyched you out.  It's difficult to see someone else's cards even at a tight table, if he's careful with them.  But by him making you think he was looking, he got under your skin.

He didn't force you to put your chips in before the flop- you did that yourself.  I define a "bad beat" as when you do everything right, with the right cards, and you still lose a big pot.  No player can force another into a true "bad beat".

I'm not saying his behaviour is acceptable- I just don't think it would be considered "cheating" or "foul play" from a strict sense.

You have to say something to the dealer as soon as you suspect something.  This would put the casino on notice.  If the Floor Manager truly saw him cheating, he would have kicked him out.

  4. cards must stay on the table.    if you are going to show your cards expect someone to look.

  5. I think they guy was trying to get you on edge. You made the right call going all in with pocket queens, if he won he beat you fair and square. I don't think it is easy to see anyones cards when they are being dealt. If you feel that they guy could see them, talk to the dealer.

Dont forget, bad beats happen all the time, that's the way poker goes.

Good luck for next time :o)

  6. I used to be a poker dealer, you shouldve told the dealer to talk to the floor manager, or next time, get up and move to a different table. I wouldve told the man to back off or went off. I hoped this helped.
