Texas Manager Ron Washington clears the line; makes no pump up speech
The Texas Rangers lost an opportunity to lift the World Series title in Game 6 on Thursday, October 27. The club had a very good chance to avail the ultimate accolade today but they lost all their chances when David Freese put the St. Louis Cardinals ahead
in the eleventh inning with a walk off solo home run, against reliever Mark Lowe. Texas manager Ron Washington talked about the club and his stance on raising the tempo amongst the squad members, hours before the game.
"We as a group understand who we are, what's at stake and what we have to do. You can't get anxious and do stuff we haven't done before. There's nothing going to happen that we haven't experienced before. Just play the game that is in front of you."
Back in July, 2011, when the Rangers were not faring well in the field and the plate, Ron Washington observed a direct strategy to motivate his club players. He pulled out Elvis Andrus from his short stop position because he did not like his play. He met
with his players in the month and made many things clear.
"I told them we didn't play our type of baseball and I didn't like our body language. I told them that's not us. I didn't have to make a rah-rah speech, just get back to playing Texas Rangers baseball and those who don't want to play Texas Rangers baseball,
raise your hands and we'll get you out of here."
The Rangers’ loss in Game 6 at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis, will leave many Texas fans hear t broken. Washington will have to go back to the dugout to pump his players. With the Cardinals looking strong in the line up, the Rangers have a hard task on
hand. There will be a lot to play for the upcoming Game 7 as it will be the last game of the World Series.
If the players need some positivity booming through the surface, Washington may need to be the one to provide that beacon of hope `with a Rah – Rah speech.
