Texas Rangers' Yu Darvish is making definite progress – MLB News
The Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux stated on Monday, March 19, that Yu Darvish has made progress and feels motivated. Maddux was commenting on the spell that the Japanese pitcher had against the Milwaukee Brewers.
"I really think he progressed how he wanted to today," Maddux said. "He had two outings that were those that [afterward] you say to yourself, 'I've got to work on something.' And he did. We went to the bullpen and worked two times between the starts.”
Jon Daniels, the team’s general manager, views his performance well and good as he thinks Darvish has a good work ethic.
“Like most guys he's getting ready for the season," Daniels said. "We've definitely liked what we've seen. We like his work ethic. His efforts to assimilate in the clubhouse and with his teammates have definitely been noticed."
Yu Darvish, like it has been said several times, is being tipped as one of the finest pitchers of the game in the days to come. Coming from Japan, he has remained a star there and is expected to be a bigger star in Major League Baseball.
Darvish, after the limelight that he got since his arrival in the team, has had three starts in the Cactus League.
Monday’s game against the Milwaukee Brewers saw him throw 70 pitches, 39 of which were strikes. That performance might not be up to the mark owing to the fact that the Rangers are only three weeks away from the regular season.
Rangers will have to play against the Chicago White Sox on April 6 which will be the Opening Day game for the current American League Champions. Yu Darvish inspires much hope and expectations due largely to the commanding seasons he has had in the past as
a pitcher in Japanese leagues.
There are stumbling blocks ahead coupled with numerous challenges. It is for the young starter to grapple with them in order to live up to the expectations. After all, it was the rotation the past year that brought a big number of victories for the Rangers
last year.
