Texas Rangers' rotation strong despite C. J. Wilson's possible departure – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ general manager Jon Daniels said on Wednesday, December 7, that his team is a position-player club, emphasising the point that the Rangers can play without C. J. Wilson in the pitching line-up.
From Colby Lewis to Alexi Ogando, Matt Harrison, Derek Holland to Neftali Feliz, the Rangers seem to have enough weapons in their arsenal to utilise if need be. His main point was that the team still was how it stood this season.
Speaking to the media after the Winter Meetings, Daniels stated that the team had the youngsters who were willing to do something big. All the same, Neftali Feliz was one of the most important parts of the rotation that Daniels believes will strengthen the
defence.
"We like our club," Daniels said. "We are a fairly set position-player club. Do I expect Neftali to do what C.J. did and pitch 200 innings? That's not fair. But he has a chance to be a part of a winning rotation. We still have three young starters who we
think can get better. We like our pitching staff."
C. J. Wilson remained Pitcher of the Year in the last two seasons, submitting evidence of his excellence with his throwing. However, as the Rangers aggressively pursued Mark Buehrle and Wilson got attracted by the bigger offers from the Los Angeles Angels
and Miami Marlins, there apparently is no chance of Wilson staying in the Rangers.
When asked to comment on it, the team manager Ron Washington referred to the pitchers mentioned earlier, saying each and every one of them offer quality for the team.
"I think each and every one of them are quality, and the one thing that we do is go play baseball," manager Ron Washington said.
With nothing absolutely clear at this juncture, what can be stated with certainty is that both the Texas Rangers and C. J. Wilson wish to move ahead, with or, if it cannot be avoided, without each other. Whatever path both of them choose, the end result
shall, to some extent affect each other as it looks like the Rangers might get affected more.
