Texas Rangers’ Adrian Beltre looking strong for post-season as homer tally rises – MLB Update
Adrian Beltre may not have the best batting average (.296) in the Major League circuit but he has the right momentum to scare any pitcher on the mound. The former Boston Red Sox player is in the playoffs and he is right in his groove to bring the glory to
his club.
The current Texas Rangers third baseman has been rising to the top with his home-runs over the past 16 games. The player was not able to pull a home-run against the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim on September 28 but his figures are impressive.
The infielder has 12 home-runs from the last 16 games. On Tuesday, Adrian Beltre homered for the fourth consecutive game and that tells the player is getting into full swing.
"I am seeing the ball well," Beltre said. "But the main thing is that when I am getting a good pitch to hit, I'm not missing it. That is the key."
The last time any player went for 12 hit long balls in 16 games was in May 1968, by Frank Howard. On Tuesday, Beltre was leading the month of September with 12 homers and 29 RBIs. That shows a reading that many Texas fans will take in with a positive outlook.
"He's producing and swinging the bat," manager Ron Washington said. "He is really locked in. He is an 18-year veteran, and once they find it, they usually don't lose it."
Ron Washington has many hitters in the squad with over 30 homers in the season. Ian Kinsler, Beltre and Mike Napoli are above 30 while Nelson Cruz ended the season with 29 homers. Josh Hamilton, on the other hand has also been on top as he heads the list
with 25 homers.
Beltre’s biggest change over the past season has come with the decrease in strike-outs. He has reduced his tally from 82 in 2010 to 53 in 2011. That is something the player is content with, over the season. It will be interesting to see what impact Beltre
will have for the Rangers in the post-season.
