Texas Rangers’ Brandon Webb feels optimistic after bull-pen session
Rangers’ pitcher Brandon Webb is trying to set the tempo right during the course of the Spring Training period. The club is making progress in bringing the players to good form for the 2011 Major League Baseball season. Many prospects are breaking through
the minor league system and new entrants in the club are making their stance known for the upcoming challenge.
The ace ball thrower recently walked off encouraged from a bull-pen session, as the pitcher has been strengthening his arm in the work-out, as his focus has been on speeding up his pitches. The veteran’s feature for the Rangers in the coming days, poses
a question mark but fans are optimistic on the ace’s return.
Webb was pitching well in his bull-pen session in the Rangers’ complex, as he was throwing in his second outing in three days. The player had been limited to flat ground and long toss in the last ten days, but now he seems comfortable to throw. Webb managed
to pitch 46 deliveries today.
"It was real good," Webb said. "I felt strong. The velocity is there and better than last time. There are still some inconsistencies to iron out. That's where we're going to put in the most work and get the feel back. The more I throw, the better it will
get."
Though there is no word on when the pitcher will feature in the Cactus League, there is improvement to note down.
"Right now, we're not thinking about a game," manager Ron Washington said after watching Webb throw. "We're thinking about getting him ready. I thought he kept the ball down and had a more consistent release point."
Washington went on to say that the main agenda was set on building up strength in the throwing arm, as he reiterated that is what bull-pens are for. To end his comment on the topic, Washington went on to say that Webb would determine on his own accord when
he would be ready for the challenge.
The club will try to burden Webb with more throw goals as the days continue. A target of 75 to 100 will be set over the next five to six outings.
