Texas Rangers’ C. J. Wilson ready to shine in Game 1 of the ALDS against Tampa Bay Rays
C. J. Wilson may not be as popular as Cliff Lee but he still is one powerful pitcher in the game. The starter will be making his first start of the post-season on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The hurler took the time
to talk to the reporters from Arlington on Thursday, September 29 and share his belief on the coming challenge.
The hurler used to be a bull-pen pitcher before he rose to prominence in 2010. Working with the likes of Cliff Lee gave him the edge to break the middle order of the pitching rotation and hit the top with a posting of 15-8 in the 2010 regular season. A year
later, the hurler is 16-7 in the 2011 season, with an earned run average of just 2.94.
The player will be facing off against rookie star, Matt Moore and that is something that has left a question mark in the minds of many supporters and players. However, Wilson has one thing on his mind and that is the goal to win.
"Every time you go out there, you try to win," said Wilson. "You are trying to throw a shutout just like you would in the regular season, so it is the same kind of thing. The only thing is I got a lot of advice last year from people that have been there
and I hadn't been there.”
The Rangers had an amazing regular season this year as all eyes are now on the play-offs. Texas will be looking to put in a brilliant performance in Game 1 against the Tampa Bay Rays. It will be interesting to see if the Rangers can carry some of their winning
momentum into the play-offs and dominate their series.
Wilson is not taking a chance against the Rays and he will be walking out on the mound to retire and strike-out any hitter that comes in his way. Manager Ron Washington believes Wilson will do what he is expected to do. It will be interesting to see how
the pitcher fares in the challenge this year.
