Texas Rangers’ C. J. Wilson’s contract to be sorted out next week – MLB News
The issue of impending free agency for C. J. Wilson continues to generate speculations. As the Texas Rangers engage in the struggle to prevail in the World Series over the St. Louis Cardinals, their team manager Jon Daniels is trying to deflect the issue
for now.
When the bargain is done is a question that does not have a satisfactory and exact answer. His answer to the riddle was that talks involving the free agents are an all-encompassing policy when regular season is underway.
"We've tried to avoid having it be more of a distraction than it is naturally," he said. "Not because it's going to be a distraction to the guy we're negotiating with, but because we don't want it to be one in the clubhouse -- 'Why are you talking to him
and not me?'”
The reason why C. J. Wilson has become talk of the town is his being potentially the most sought after free agent in the offseason. The starter has maintained a remarkably great track record throughout the regular season.
Although his post-season record does not inspire a lot of appreciation, owing to the fact that he has lost Game 1 of the World Series and having a record of 0-3 with an unusually unimpressive 7.17 ERA, he will have a lot of bidders in the days to come.
Among other things, he has amassed a whopping 7-million-dollars this year which signifies the fact that the player has been consistently good for the team.
The team manager tried to explain the issue to the press. "So we communicated to [Wilson], 'Let's put it on hold and not let it be an issue, and we'll address it after the season."
Having won 16 games in his 34 appearances in 34 games, with 2.94 ERA, Wilson got huge in the limelight. All the same, his victories to a great extent were responsible for the team’s entry into the World Series. It remains to be seen how the final deal is
carried out as the Series comes to an end.
