Texas Rangers CEO and President, Nolan Ryan hopes to see Rangers Ballpark attendance increase
The Texas Rangers established their best winning record in the regular season when they beat the Los Angeles Angels at Angel Stadium in Anaheim. With 96 wins in the season they crossed their last best tally of 95 from 1999. More than 11 years later, the
club has seen better attendance in the stands. Under the control of CEO and President, Nolan Ryan, the Rangers have done well.
The club went to the World Series in 2010 when it had Chuck Greenberg in the CEO’s seat but with the 2011 regular season coming to an end the club looks better and focused on their objective. One would think the team would not fare well without Cliff Lee
but that has not been the case.
The fans have piled on the stands to support the club and their contribution has brought the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, 2,946,949 ticket sales. Nolan Ryan talked about the current tally in 2011 and told the reporters on Thursday, October 6 that the figure
will surely go up soon.
Ryan said, "I think 3-plus million is doable, and whether it is 3.1 [million] or 3.5, there's a lot of things that need to go right."
One thing to note here would be the fact that Texas recorded the hottest weather of the summer season for a three-month period, from June to August. The study came from the National Weather Service and Ryan took good note of that.
Ryan further added, "I think, and this is just a Nolan Ryan guesstimate, I think that the record heat wave probably cost us somewhere around 150,000 in attendance, and that's a substantial number."
The Texans will host the American League Championship Series opener at Rangers Ballpark and the CEO confirmed that he supported the Detroit Tigers in their aim to beat the New York Yankees in the Division Series to qualify for the Championship Series.
Nevertheless, with Texas on the top, there is much expectation from the fans who want to see the club go to the World Series again.
