Texas Rangers’ Colby Lewis looking comfortable for Game 3 in American League Division Series
Colby Lewis was a star for the Texas Rangers last post-season, as he took three wins from four games. His effort was compared with Cliff Lee’s, who managed to transfer to the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2010 off-season. Lewis will be going to his first
game in the playoffs of 2011 on Monday, October 3 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, against the Tampa Bay Rays.
The hurler took the opportunity on Sunday, October 2 to talk to the press in Tampa Bay. The player was queried on his feelings for the coming Game 3 of the American League Division Series and he responded calmly. Lewis has a simple approach and there was
not much excitement in the pitcher’s character during the press address.
"You know, I think just staying relaxed really, not really building up, not trying to do anything more than I was throughout the whole season," Lewis said.
Rangers have put Lewis out on the mound 32 times and all of them have been as starter. He is 14-10 for the 2011 regular season and his earned run average is 4.40. The only drawback in the ball thrower’s recent record is that he has conceded the most home-runs
in the American League.
Nevertheless, the Rangers’ hurler seems cool and calm for his game and he explained how he plans to go into the coming game on Monday.
"I try to not let like this right here, the media and everything else, build it up to where it is more than just a start," said Lewis. "For me, I try to keep everything normal, keep the workouts the same, keep everything as familiar to me as possible."
The hurler concluded by saying that he tries to look at every game the same way and tried to maintain the same approach. Lewis will be looking to put in a tremendous performance and restrict the Rays’ powerful offence.
If Lewis can pull up a win on Monday, the Rangers will be 2-1 in the lead for the series. That is something the club will want to achieve, away from home.
