Texas Rangers Colby Lewis’ performance hailed – MLB News
The Texas Rangers hailed Colby Lewis performance on Friday, April 06, whereby the team beat the Chicago White Sox by 3-2. The starter took the pitcher’s mound with supreme confidence to steal the victory for the team.
Michael Young who was also instrumental to charge up the Texas Rangers’ offence was all praise for Colby Lewis.
"It was a good clean game," Young said. "We were really happy to get that kind of performance from Colby. He did a great job, a lot of strikeouts and a lot of big pitches with men on base. It was nice to get the lead back for him like that the way we did."
Colby Lewis’ being so dominant and the ability to monopolize the game must have brought a lot of contentment in the team. He went to pitch six strong innings, conceding seven hits and allowing two runs with 3.00 ERA.
The pitcher allowed only 2 walks with 9 strikeouts to his credit. His rival in the game, John Danks could not quite achieve what the team might have expected from him. The starter was punished by the Rangers offence as he allowed 3 runs – one of which was a homer, in 6-inning spell.
Colby’s spell on Friday was subject to critical appraisal by the teammates.
"Colby is fearless," Murphy added. "He's not afraid to challenge guys, pound the strike zone and help his defense. He keeps the ball down and works quickly. You love playing behind a guy like that."
The team will rely on the player a great deal this year. It is worthwhile to mention here that the past year the team was first in winning when it comes to rotation. In the presence of best starters in the team, Lewis’ win is indeed a positive development.
It will be interesting to see how in the second game of the series Derek Holland gets on the White Sox. Rotation undeniably has become one of the strong features of the Rangers which will help them have the upper hand on the rival teams in 2012.
