Texas Rangers’ David Murphy cites caution when facing Tampa Bay Rays in Game one of ALDS
The first game of the American League Division Series (ALDS) between the Texas Rangers and the Tampa Bay Rays will kick off on Friday, September 30 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
The two teams have been on top of their game in the recent weeks and it seems like the situation is different from the 2010 play-offs when both teams met at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg for the ALDS.
Texas’ outfielder, David Murphy took the opportunity on Thursday, September 29 to talk about the Rays and the level of caution needed to fight them effectively in the first game of the series. The Rangers’ star has been on top of his game after the All-Star
break and is on the roster that is heading to the post-season.
The player was aware of the Rays resurgence in the recent weeks and he took good note of the fight put out by the club players in their last bout of the season against the New York Yankees. Rays pulled off seven runs in the eighth and ninth innings against
the Yankees to force a deadlock.
They eventually won the game with a homer from Evan Longoria in the 12th. Murphy is aware of the risks and cautioned his team on the surprise package club that will visit Texas for the ALDS.
"They have a clubhouse full of guys that are excited and on a roll right now," Rangers’ outfielder David Murphy said. "A month ago I don't know if they even expected to get into the postseason and now they're here. We can't take them lightly by any means.
But we've definitely been playing well. Hopefully we can carry that into the postseason."
The Rangers will be sending in first choice hurler, C. J. Wilson for the first game against rookie starter, Matt Moore. With both teams fired up and in top form, it will be interesting to see which team dominates from the start to gain a competitive advantage
in the exciting series.
