Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels continues to look for a good pitcher – MLB Update
The Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels is still seeking a good pitcher for his team. After a disappointing 2012 Major League Baseball season, the Rangers franchise not wants to go into a new Major League Baseball season without a good starting pitcher.
For over past few years, the Rangers have not given proper attention to sign new pitchers. Though they currently have some good pitchers but still their front office is not satisfied with the current starting rotation.
“My disappointment stems more from the fact that there was a relationship over time, I thought we understood that we had a chance to at least have a conversation. This isn’t restricted free agency in the NFL where you get an offer sheet and a chance to match
it. We never expected that,” Rangers GM Daniels said recently and explained in the media about his sort of struggles which he is facing to find a new pitcher.
He added, “But we thought with the relationship that we’d have one more conversation before the fact and that didn’t happen. I wish him well. I wish him and his family well. We’re going to try to find ways to get him out, obviously.”
Yu Darvish was signed in this year and he performed with a tremendous pace. However, he alone cannot lead his team into big games as Rangers should be signing new players.
In the recent past season, the Japanese international played terrifically. He went with 3.90 ERA along with 16-9 win-loss, 221 strikeouts and 1.28 WHIP.
Along with Darvish, the Rangers also have Neftali Feliz. Feliz played well in the last Major League Baseball season and achieved consistent numbers. He stayed consistent at 3.16 ERA along with 3-1 win-loss, 37 strikeouts and 1.20 WHIP.
On the other hand, his career stats are also consistent at 2.67 ERA along with 10-7 win-loss, 201 strikeouts and 1.00 WHIP.
Not only just starting pitchers, the Rangers also need to sign some relief pitchers in the roster. Currently they have a good reliever Michael Kirkman as he holds good 2012 Major League Baseball season stats of 3.82 ERA along with 38 strikeouts and 1.16
WHIP.
