Texas Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels talks on club’s togetherness
The Texas Rangers may not have been the favourites of the American League to pick up the American League Championship title and move on to the World Series, but they proved their worth in the run up to the final stage of the postseason when they beat the
Detroit Tigers in dominating fashion, in front of a home crowd at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. General Manager Jon Daniels had a lot to say and his emphasis was on the togetherness of the team on Sunday, October 16.
The top management representative loves the way his club has performed over the last two years. From being bankrupt to having ethical issues outside the clubhouse in 2010, the Rangers rebounded from a very disastrous situation. This is the second straight
year in which the team has gone into the World Series and there is a lot of optimism in the air, concerning their chances to pick up the major title this time around.
"We have a really good clubhouse culture," Daniels said. "I think it's [manager] Ron Washington, it's the staff, the kind of players we're bringing up, our veterans. You talk to Mike Napoli or Adrian Beltre or Vladimir Guerrero or Mike Adams or whoever comes
in here, and the theme you constantly hear is, 'This is the best clubhouse I've ever been a part of.' I think that's a reflection of the veteran leadership, it's Wash, it's the whole organization. That's why we're trying to [create an] environment that's welcoming."
The last time any team from the American League went back to the World Series was between the years of 1998 to 2001. New York Yankees were the club to do it. However the Rangers do not have the kind of money or cash flow that the Yanks and the Boston Red
Sox possess. Nevertheless, with new signings like Napoli, Adams and Beltre, the club has augmented their team roster and have pushed for the best results.
The club now has a second chance to pick up the World Series title and it will be up against the St. Louis Cardinals.
