Texas Rangers’ Josh Hamilton not worried about health issues – MLB Update
The Texas Rangers are now just one win away from clinching their first ever World Series title and Josh Hamilton is content on being part of such a talented unit. The ballclub made its first appearance at the Fall Classic last year, but failed to take advantage
of the opportunity and lost to San Francisco Giants in five games.
This year, however, the Rangers have surpassed the psychological barrier of five games and are currently leading 3-2 in the seven-game fiesta, with Game 6 rescheduled for Thursday, October 27. Initially, the Rangers could have grabbed the World Series crown
as early as Wednesday, October 26, but rain forced the game to be postponed until at least Thursday.
Expressing his thoughts after the game was officially postponed, Hamilton stressed that this decision will affect the team’s preparations and that this actually might be useful as far as the outcome of the game is concerned.
Game 6 was postponed due to inclement weather in St. Louis, even before rain had actually arrived in the city. Appreciating the decision to call the game judiciously, Hamilton stated that it is mentally good for both teams as players do not have to get into
game mode and then get out of it.
Hamilton has not been productive in the postseason thus far, largely due to nagging injuries which have halted his swing on at-bats. In the World Series alone, he is batting 3-for-19 at an average of .250 – highlighting his dubious performance.
Another problem faced by Hamilton has been his inability to produce home-runs in the postseason, but this has hardly affected his morale. Hamilton pointed out that the line-up is strong on the offensive front and thus he has no stress as far as not hitting
home-runs is concerned.
Making it a point not to discuss his health with the reporters, Hamilton said, "First person to ask about my health, all the interviews are over. We good? Everybody understand? Don't be the guy that messes it up.”
With an extra day’s rest, manager Ron Washington believes that Hamilton will get some time to deal with the nagging injuries and it remains to be seen if the player is able to produce his best in this edition of the Fall Classic.
