Texas Rangers’ Josh Hamilton speaks to media – MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ slugger Josh Hamilton made a TV appearance on Friday, February 24, speaking on the range of issues he is currently dealing with. Josh Hamilton, who found himself embroiled in another controversy the past month, whereby he drank alcohol
in a Dallas restaurant, is trying to make up for the relapse.
Friday’s press conference had a lot to offer for the ones who know the consummate player. He shed light on how passionately and sincerely he has been working to better the relationship with his wife and kids.
Saying that he needs to flip his priorities, Hamilton said it is a long process, and his commitment remains with the family. Repairing the relationship is key, no doubt, but the player talked about his team as well.
"The Rangers have done a lot of me," Hamilton said. "I have a question. Have I done a lot for the Rangers? I think I have given them everything I've got. What it comes down to is, people have to understand this is a business.”
“I love Texas, I love the fans, I love the organization and I love my teammates. But I'm not going to sit here and say I owe the Rangers. I don't feel I owe the Rangers."
While his recovery is taking time, there is another riddle that needs to be solved. The contract is indeed one of the matters which will be in need of clarity. The Rangers, however, want the slugger to get ready for the season and his recovery.
Spring Training, nonetheless, has brought some sense of relief and cheer for the player. There are obviously many distractions at this time, but focus remains the new season whereby the player has to repeat what he had done in 2010: Winning the American
League Most Valuable Player Award.
If Hamilton produces the kind of game he has characteristically done in his career, he will have a strong chance to win the contract extension at a time when he needs full support by the team he has always represented in his career.
