Texas Rangers’ Nelson Cruz hailed after a wonderful game-–MLB Update
The Texas Rangers manager Ron Washington on Tuesday, April 10, was all praise for Nelson Cruz who hit a three-run homer against the Seattle Mariners in Monday’s game. Cruz’s homer came at a time when the Mariners had a seemingly irreversible 5-2 lead in the game.
However, much as it was his powerful hit that brought an end to the lead of the Mariners, it did not probably get the kind of attention that it possibly deserved. This happened due largely to the conspicuous presence of Yu Darvish in the game.
The Japanese pitcher who was making his debut in the Major League Baseball was the centre of the attention since the start of the game since he was tipped to be one of the best arms entering the Rangers’ rotation lately.
While Darvish’s performance remained a bit shaky initially, which he handled well afterwards, Cruz brought more of improvement in his record for the season. Prior to the commencement of the game against the Mariners, he had a record of 1-for-10 as he played against the Chicago White Sox.
However, when the game against the Seattle Mariners came to an end with the emphatic 11-5 victory for the Texas Rangers, Cruz had already managed to have 3-for-4, contributing significantly to the win.
"It was nice to see Cruz break out," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "As long as he continues to see pitches and have at-bats, it will happen. He's streaky. He'll get hot and then he won't get hot. We understand that, but his threat is good enough."
The game made the player feel good. Provided he gets more at-bat, he will always be an invaluable addition for the offence.
"I feel good," Cruz said. "The more at-bats I take, the better I feel. That's a good sign."
With the smooth progress that the Rangers have been making in the season lately, Cruz will continue to be an important component of the team. The more he performs well, the better the chances of the team – like the previous game, to come up with decisive victories against the opponents.
