Texas Rangers Pitching Rotation looking to absolve loose starts history in postseason and rise up in World Series
It may be strange to highlight that the Texas Rangers won the American League Championship Series strictly on bullpen pitchers but there is optimism they can do better when their premier starters take the mound at the Busch Stadium in Game 1 of the World
Series against the St. Louis Cardinals. The intent was communicated from the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Monday, October 17. The club players were busy working out at the venue during the day.
For the Rangers, all of their four premier starters have a combined earning runs average of just 5.62 in 10 playoff games. Derek Holland has been a disappointing figure in the midst. His three outings have been translated in to a 1 – 0 standing on earning
runs average of 5.27. He has pitched 13.2 innings, conceding 10 runs off 18 hits.
"We're very frustrated," Holland said. "I know I'm a better pitcher than what I have shown. We know we're capable of going longer than we have been, but we can't worry about the ALCS."
On the other hand, Colby Lewis is 1 – 1 and he has an earning runs average of 3.86. The hurler has spoken prematurely about his intent and his main focus will be to pitch through the strike zone. The player tends to keep his approach simple and he is truly
a marvel at what he does.
"I just try to get outs," Lewis said. "That's what I always try to do. I don't do anything different than I do during the regular season. You don't worry about that magnitude of what's going on. You go out and perform."
Reliever Scott Feldman believes the pitchers have what it takes to get back up again from a bad run in the playoffs.
"They're all good pitchers, they'll figure it out," Feldman said. "It's part of baseball that you go through streaks. Hopefully, they'll all be ready to dominate."
Feldman, a former starter, has done well for his club and he is 1 – 0 from four games with 8.2 innings. The hurler has an earning runs average of just 0.00.
