Texas Rangers: Post season results – MLB October 2011
The Rangers had a forgettable start to their post-season campaign as they were hammered 0-9 in the opening game of a four match series against Tampa Bay Rays. The batters let their side down big time as the Rangers were unable to put even a single run on
the board.
It was a very disappointing loss for the Rangers, especially considering the high standards they had set for themselves in the regular season. However, team manager, Ron Washington stated that he was still determined and hopeful for positive results in the
upcoming games of post-season.
Making a strong comeback, the Rangers raised their game to entirely new level in game two. Handling the pressure brilliantly, the players showed great composure as they managed to control their nerves in a thrilling 8-6 victory. The Rangers secured another
well deserved win in the following game to take a 2-1 lead in the series.
"We don't take these guys lightly because they've got momentum, they've got a lot of heart," Rangers’ CEO and President Nolan Ryan said. "That concerns you a lot, and so we know we've got our hands full with them." With momentum on their side, Washington’s
team outplayed their rivals in game four to conclude a wonderful series result.
Texas had an incredible series against the inform Detroit Tigers, winning four out of six matches against their arch rivals. Claiming a narrow victory in the opening game, the Rangers had a dream start. After game two was abandoned, the AL West team extended
their lead 2-0 with another strong 7-3 effort in game three. Tigers came back well to reduce that deficit to 3-2 but they failed to stop the opposition team from earning a well deserved 4-2 series victory. With their victory, Texas became the first repeat
champion in the American League in a decade as they also made it to the World Series.
"We wanted to get to the World Series. But the bottom line is getting to the World Series and winning it. We feel pretty confident about ourselves," manager Ron Washington said.
Continuing their incredible form in the World Series as well and although they made a few errors in their opening clash against St. Louis Cardinals, they were back to their very best in game two to level the series 1-1.
The Rangers then won next two of three games to take a crucial 3-2 lead. However, they were stunned 9-10 in sixth game to as Cardinals forced the series into the last game, which will be played on October 27.
The hard work and dedication of the Rangers regular season is coming down to one final game 7 of the World Series against the Cardinals.
