Texas Rangers: Regular season results – MLB July 2011
Texas Rangers looked in great shape during the month of July 2011. After they improved their win-loss record to 43-39 in the previous month of the regular season, the Rangers were hoping for another strong 30-day period.
Defeating Florida Marlins in game one of a three match series, Ron Washington’s team looked in complete control of their game play. Everybody executed the game plan brilliantly in a completely one sided contest to take a 1-0 lead in the series.
Alexi Ogando pitched superbly as he allowed only five hits and two runs in just over six innings. "Ogando never wavered from his confidence and more than what we thought, it was about what he thought, and it's obvious he kept saying that he was OK," manager
Ron Washington said.
However, following that victory, the Rangers were unable to maintain the required standard of play. Losing both games two and three of the series, they were unable to perform to their potential when it mattered the most. Ron Washington was of course a bit
disappointed with his side’s effort after they had covered the hard yards earlier in the series.
Texas Rangers raised their game to a higher level in the following series against the Baltimore Orioles, emerging victorious in all three encounters. Demolishing the Orioles 13-4 in the series, they looked on course to a big series win. Although the Rangers
had to work for their victory in game two, they dominated their rivals in almost all departments in the third and final game to conclude an excellent 3-0 series result. Alexi Ogando, once again, was the star of the show as he took only four hits in almost
seven innings.
With momentum on their side, the Rangers were unstoppable in a four match series against the Oakland Athletics, crushing their opponents in each game to secure a thumping 4-0 series victory. Ron Washington’s side conceded only eleven runs in four games and
they scored heavily in each game.
"I think we finally got the type of baseball moving in the direction we're capable of playing," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "Now we know what we have to do and how we have to do it, just have to go out there and get a little break and continue to
play good baseball."
The Rangers continued their impressive form throughout the month and they were defeated only eight times in thirty one games, which improved their win-loss record to 61-48. However, Ron Washington still advised his boys to focus on the upcoming games to
qualify for the post-season. The Rangers dominated most of the month of July as they were the team to beat, as they were storming towards the post-season full of confidence.
