Texas Rangers’ Ron Washington confident of winning Game 3 – MLB Update
After winning Game 2 of the World Series against St. Louis Cardinals, Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington believes that it will be a completely different world in Game 3, when the series shift to Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Saturday, October 22.
Washington explained that it would have been against the Rangers if the Cardinals won both games at Busch Stadium, but now, with the series at one-each, everybody has a chance to start afresh to the Fall Classic.
Not going overboard, Washington stressed that the team is looking forward to win Game 3 and then take it from there. There are no concrete plans of winning the series in five games because the Cardinals are a tough opposition and their performances since
September are worthy proof of their abilities.
Cardinals’ manager Tony La Russa has been at his usual best in the World Series thus far, trying to beat the Rangers tactfully rather than force. Appreciating this, Washington stated that La Russa is a force to reckon in baseball and countering his tactics
is easier said than done.
The manager was all praise for club president Nolan Ryan, who has not only been a source of inspiration to the team, but has actually helped the bull-pen prepare a strategy to go deeper into games.
Talking about Ryan’s leadership and strategy, Washington said, “You know, he brought an attitude about pitching, and Mike Maddux and Andy Hawkins have implemented it, our players have bought into it, and the results are we're pitching very well as a Texas
Ranger team. And I know in the past that wasn't the mantra here, but it is now, and we hope to have that here for many years to come.”
Washington pointed out on Michael Young’s contributions for the ballclub and stated that he is a true professional, who commands respect amongst the players. Young has a lot of character and patience, which will be vital for the team’s success in the Fall
Classic.
The Rangers lost to San Francisco Giants in last year’s edition of the World Series and Washington believes that the team has recovered well from that loss to focus their attention on winning the first title for the franchise.
