Texas Rangers’ Ron Washington eyes play-offs at home as club beats Los Angeles Angels 10-3
The Texas Rangers had a lot to be content with on Tuesday, September 27 as they dominated the Los Angeles Angels 10-3 at Angel Stadium in Anaheim.
The club brought home a much needed win that ensures they can start the play-offs at home in front of the fans at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
Their 10-3 victory over the Angels on Tuesday ensured they are currently on 95-wins, one game ahead of the Detroit Tigers The club needs one last game to seal their home plate advantage. They cannot afford to lose as the club will be eyeing a clean sweep
against the Angels.
Rangers’ manager Ron Washington was content on seeing his hitters smash the opposition to pick up the important win. With five homers coming in early, the Rangers stated their case for the World Series in exciting fashion. Nelson Cruz, Ian Kinsler and Adrian
Beltre slammed a homer each while former Los Angeles star, Mike Napoli smashed two homers in the game.
"We've been playing good baseball all year," Washington said. "That's how you get those wins. It means we've been consistent. ... If we go out there (Wednesday) and win the ballgame, we know we're going home. That's our intention. Of course we want to play
in front of our home fans."
One other feature for the Rangers was Colby Lewis. The right hand ball thrower was in the mix for six innings before he was given the call to head back to the dugout. He pitched beautifully as he restricted the Angels to just two runs from three hits. The
star was successful against the New York Yankees in the 2010 post-season as he beat the club twice. He looks prepared for the challenge.
"I'm looking forward to it," Lewis said. "I felt I was ready before tonight."
The manager will be eyeing Wednesday as the club will be looking to maintain their lead and end the season on 96-wins, the club’s highest in history. The Rangers fought hard to get to this point in the season, one more win will ensure home plate advantage.
