Texas Rangers’ Ron Washington not concerned by loss in Game 6 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington was not worried after losing Game 6 of the World Series against St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday, October 27 at Busch Stadium in St. Louis Missouri and believes that his team has enough experience to bounce back in Game
7 and thus win the crown.
The Cardinals fell behind five times during the game, but resurfaced in the depth to win 10-9 against the American League pennant winners. David Freese was central to the win, driving in a two-out triple in the ninth inning before lashing a walk-off homer
in the 11th inning to seal the encounter.
Appreciating their effort, Washington said, “You know, it's not that easy to win a world championship, as we found out tonight. We had the right people in the right spot, and they beat us. You've got to give them credit. They fought tonight. They came back,
and they won the ballgame.”
Washington assured that the team will bounce back after getting unlucky in Game 6 and no one can be blamed for the loss. He pointed out that the Rangers have not lost two consecutive games in a while now and there is every possibility of winning Game 7.
However, statistics have little to say in this regard for the Rangers. Out of the last 13 Major League teams to win Game 6 at home and push the series to Game 7, 12 went on to win the World Series. The Cardinals have done it before and have the ability to
do it again.
Stressing that things could not have been more perfect than this, Washington stressed that the better team won and the only solution to eradicate this is to fight hard in Game 7 and possibly win it. The finale is scheduled for Friday, October 28 at Busch
Stadium.
Washington was all praise for Freese, who helped the Cardinals out of crisis twice during the game. Freese helped the Redbirds win the National League Championship Series and thus was named as Most Valuable Player for his contributions during the series.
Here, he is in contention for that title again.
Showing respect to the Cardinals, Washington stated that the team deserves a tip of the hat for the performance, but remains optimistic of winning the first World Series in the 51-year-history of the ballclub.
