Texas Rangers’ Ron Washington praises Michael Young after 7-4 win against Cleveland Indians
The Texas Rangers were on a high against the Cleveland Indians on Thursday, September 15 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. The club had a hard hitting line up and the batting faction made sure the team would finish the game on top. The club manager, Ron
Washington was exceptionally pleased by his hitters that got the side to a 7-4 victory.
While Endy Chavez proved his mettle with the bat, Michael Young picked up three RBIs in the game to go over 100 RBIs for the second time in his career. Adrian Beltre and Josh Hamilton were also on fire as they smashed home-runs to put the club on top.
The manager was sympathetic for Cleveland pitcher Fausto Carmona. The hurler had walked Ian Kinsler and Josh Hamilton in the bottom fifth to load the bases for Michael Young. Young would then smash a three run double to send the Rangers to a 4-0 score line
in the game.
"It's like any team that has depth," Washington said. "Pick your poison. I think any manager would have done what he did and not pitched to Josh. But he had to deal with Michael, had to deal with [Adrian] Beltre and Napoli."
Carmona later gave up a two run homer to Beltre. In a way, it was a terrible thing to happen to a pitcher.
Nevertheless, Washington was pleased with Young who crossed 100 RBIs for the second time in his career. The star has 101 RBIs, 80 runs, 11 home-runs and a .334 batting average in the season, so far.
"What a year," Washington said. "It doesn't matter where I put him in the line-up, he delivers. We needed him to step up in the fourth spot when Beltre was down, and he didn't miss a beat. He stepped up and kept doing what he does."
If the Rangers continue to pummel the opposition like they did today, they may very well dominate the other teams before the postseason and possibly make it to the 2011 World Series.
