Texas Rangers’ Yu Darvish comes into view with magical spell – MLB News
If there was any pitcher on Monday, February 27, to leave the Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington spellbound, it was Yu Darvish. Feeling awed by the throwing session, Washington commented that Darvish can dominate in the game anytime.
"He's got some serious stuff," Washington said as he walked from one practice field to another. "He can run his fastball inside, he can run it outside. He can sink it to the left and sink it to the right. He can hang you up with his breaking ball ... he's
got the splitter. He can bring heat."
Yu Darvish was recently acquired by the Texas Rangers. While all eyes were set on the incredibly talented and strong Japanese pitcher, observers were closely monitoring as to which team would eventually lay their hands on him.
It turned out that the Texas Rangers had resolved to get possession of this player. With the entire blaze that correspondingly came with the arrival of the pitcher in the Rangers, Monday’s practice session was specially followed to see how Darvish pitches.
Yu hurled 34 pitches as the Rangers’ manager oversaw the workout. With a variety of pitches that Darvish employed, improvised and threw, he has already won the awe and admiration of the team.
"He can take his fastball, sink it, throw it inside and make you chase it high," Washington explained. "That's three pitches just right there."
But all that he did on Monday, Darvish is yet to be discovered. Not even the team manager knows what weapons the pitcher has in his arsenal, ready to stun the rivals. From the breaking ball to changeup, Darvish hurled a mixture of all.
The next session shall now be on Wednesday for Darvish whereby he will unleash his other weapons as well, if necessary. However, Darvish no longer has to impress anyone since he has already evinced the talent he has.
While the talent is universal, opportunities are very rare. Darvish is lucky to have both simultaneously. It will now be interesting to observe how he goes about to obtain phenomenal success as the awe-inspiring Rangers’ pitcher.
