Texas Rangers’ Yu Darvish pitches against Double-A lineup - MLB News
The Texas Rangers’ No. 4 starter Yu Darvish had another strong pitching session on Wednesday, April 04 against a Double-A lineup. Prior to the first Major League Baseball game, Yu Darvish’s spell on Wednesday proved the young pitcher is all prepared to take on the hitters.
The team manager seemed happy.
"Outstanding," Rangers manager Ron Washington said after the game whereby the pitcher threw four scoreless innings that culminated with the Rangers 6-1 victory. "He had good stuff, his [sinker] was running well. He used all his pitches, kept the ball down and did a really good job."
Texas Rangers have for two consecutive years qualified for the World Series finals but lost each time – first beaten by the San Francisco Giants in 2010, and the St. Louis Cardinals which won the 2011 finals.
However, the Rangers are playing with an entirely different outlook this time round. The rotation is ever stronger thanks to the presence of the likes of Derek Holland, Matt Harrison and Neftali Feliz.
The pitching sessions that Yu Darvish has so far had is a growing reflection of the power and effectiveness which he so skilfully combines. It will not be long before he throws in the Major League Baseball, a dream that is witnessing its realization.
"I just want to stay with what I've been doing," Darvish said. "Opening Day, even in Japan, I tried not to get overly excited. I'm going to continue to prepare the next four days like it's just another start."
The rotation had a big role to play in the Rangers’ achievements the past season. With 74 wins to their credit, the Rangers had remained third in the American League with 3.65 ERA. They stood fifth with 994 innings pitched in the league.
Yu Darvish will undeniably have a central role to play in emboldening the team’s defence. With the likes of aforementioned pitchers, Yu Darvish will able to rise to the expectations of the team and the fans alike. How successful his endeavour becomes in MLB will indeed be a treat to watch once the Texas Rangers start the season.
