Texas Rangers batter Kansas City Royals 5-4 – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers battered the Kansas City Royals 5-4 in the final game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, September 6 at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
Rangers’ offence did not let the Royals take advantage at any stage and won in the end.
"Knocking in runs leads to wins, That's the only stat I care about is racking up wins. I don't care about the numbers that are in the past. Those games are done. They're as much in the past as numbers I put up 10 years ago, they're in the past. I'm always focused on the next game and the next opportunity," said Michael Young on his team’s overall performance which earned a great victory and proved as a strong contender for the World Series title.
Young added, "I'm trying to stay in the middle of the field, stay as short and quick as I possibly can and get something up in the zone that I can hit on a line or higher.”
Their pitchers and batters played beautifully to earn a great victory. Starter Scott Feldman did well on the mound as he pitched 6.1 innings and received three runs on six hits. He received one homer and struck-out six Royals’ batters on his 4.97 ERA.
Michael Kirkman had a decent time on the mound. He did well and provided his team with a great win. He received one run and one hit along with a homer on his 3.86 ERA.
Closer Tanner Scheppers pitched 1.1 innings and received one hit. He did not allow any run while he struck-out two Royals’ batters as well. He pitched in right direction and maintained his ERA at 4.18.
On the other hand, the Royals' starter Luke Hochevar pitched 6.1 innings and received four runs and six hits. He pitched way-ward and literally lost the game for the Royals. Though he struck-out five but his overall performance just could not match the Rangers’ brilliance. He also received two homers as his ERA rose to 5.36 with blistering pace.
Rangers will be happy with their performance as they managed to take a decent victory over the Royals.
