Texas Rangers brush aside the Kansas City Royals 8-7 – MLB Update
The combined efforts from each player of the Texas Rangers resulted in their 8-7 victory against the Kansas City Royals at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on April 24.
The Rangers had the worst record before this series, as they lost six out of eight games but now they have improved while the Royals lost all their games played in Texas.
The Rangers’ Manager Ron Washington had a huge ovation for his team. Speaking to reporters, he said, “You have to go out there and keep your team in the game when you don't have your best stuff. We were able to put some runs on the board to give him a little
cushion. They keep coming and keep coming and keep coming, see what they did right there in the ninth inning.”
Adrian Beltre struck a lead-off homer, C.J. Wilson had 10 strike-outs and Arthur Rhodes pitched for his first save in a persuasive victory for the Rangers. Mike Napoli and Andres Blanco, who shined in the last game, also struck home-runs in the game. Napoli
hit a solo homer in the second inning to get the go-ahead for the Rangers. Beltre’s home-run hit in the fourth inning gave the Rangers a 2-1 lead.
Wilson allowed four runs on eight hits including four earned runs in seven inning pitches. He gave away two home-runs which were considered as first in his baseball career. He was little bit scratchy with his pitching and permitted two walks. Wilson was
not content and said, “I have to pitch a lot better. ... I'm not anywhere near where I want to be. I'm giving up too many hits.”
Rhodes was extra-ordinary with the ball as he pitched for his saves at the end of the game. With that effort, he now become the oldest veteran closer who has managed to secure saves for his team. Napoli covered all the loaded bases when David Murphy took
a double towards the centre-field position. Murphy completed his two-run double for the first time in a game.
Murphy was excited after the Rangers’ success. He said, “As of right now, we're playing great. A few days ago, we were up and down. It's good to get back on track. We need to continue.”
For the Royals, Mike Aviles hit two home-runs to reduce the lead in the ninth inning against the Rangers’ reliever Brett Tomko. Aviles was the only player from the Royals who put in an attempt but that was not enough to squeeze a win for his team. He also
made two runs on three hits including four RBIs.
The Royals’ starter Bruce Chen did not perform well, as he gave six runs on seven hits in just four inning pitches.
