Texas Rangers’ consent for contract extension with General Manager Jon Daniels – MLB News
On March 4, 2011 the organisation illustrated their trust in Jon Daniels, the General Manager for the Texas Rangers. The management team was agreeing to a four-year extension in a deal with him through 2015.
Daniels expressed his excitement and said, "This is a symbol that ownership is pleased with the direction and work that has been put in from a lot of people. My family and I love being in Texas, and we are thrilled to stay here and build something really
special."
Jon had to make an agreement with Michael Young's deal request before Spring Training season.
Rangers’ team leader Nolan Ryan made the statement after meeting with tenure partners in Arizona. An addition for assistant General Manager Thad Levine is in the workings and the club is also looking at extending other baseball recruits to uphold the stability
in the organisation.
Speaking at the press conference, Ryan said, "I think what [Daniels] does best, he's best at assembling the best team he can have around him, in the form of scouts, advisors and development people. Then, once he puts people in place, he puts a lot of confidence
[in them] and believes in their abilities.”
Daniels recognised being one of the appearances of the franchise, but also gave tribute to his coaching staff, front-office employees and the baseball progress division. He felt that the deal was a conclusion of all of their solid work.
Jon, who united the Texas club in 2002 as a baseball functions assistant, became the eighth general manager in organisation history when he was selected to the spot on October 4, 2005. He was 28-years-old at that time. He also made his name in making the
youngest general manager in Major League Baseball.
The Rangers are one of the only four associations and the only American League group, to mark bigger win totals in each of the past three years with two second-spot ends in 2008 and 2009 since the AL championship of 2010.
Daniels' efforts have also been documented by the outside members of the club. At the end of last season, he was appointed as Baseball American Major League Executive of the Year 2010. He had also a fame of becoming second Rangers’ executive to win the honour
after Doug Melvin in 1998.
According to Daniels, these awards have come at a speed that he did not wait for, most likely with a pace bizarre to his game. He has been lucky to be at the exact place and be around the true people.
Daniels was the one who told Michael Young to shift from third base to designated hitter so that the Rangers could mark Adrian Beltre as a free-agent. At first, Young decided to control at the start of an innovative season but the Beltre contract was declared
on January 5, 2011.
Now it seems to be a challenge for Daniels to maintain the line-up complete and make sure the next sign of players approaching which will have to be constant.
