Texas Rangers could sign free agent Shane Victorino – MLB Update
Sources are speculating in the media that Shane Victorino might sign with the Texas Rangers. Sources have told the media that former Los Angeles Dodgers centre fielder Shane Victorino is likely to sign with the Rangers.
Free agent Victorino is highly talented individual and knows his worth in Major League Baseball. Many teams have already showed great interest in Victorino’s free agency.
He last played for the Dodgers and hit with a consistent average of .255 along with 11 homers, 55 RBIs and .321 OBP.
Overall he possesses eight years of Major League experience and performs with great consistency with a .275 hitting average along with 90 homers, 409 RBIs and .341 OBP.
On the other hand, his former club, the Dodgers are also showing great interest in him. His re-signing will be a very good sign for the Dodgers but still this is not certain that both sides will agree on a mutual understanding.
The Dodgers want him for better offence and know he will play another good season with them.
On the other hand, the Dodgers cannot negate the very fact regarding other teams’ interest in Victorino’s free agency.
Recently, along with Texas Rangers, the Philadelphia Phillies’ general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. is also interested signing Victorino.
Phillies GM also believes that Victorino’s superfluous offence will help his franchise play with more consistency in the near future.
“Maybe, I don’t like to talk about guys specifically, but we’re going to keep all our options open. There’s no reason to close off any options. There’s not enough talent out there to close off options,” Amaro said as he explained the situation regarding adding Victorino for next potential seasons.
Amaro said with more detail and talked to the media personals, “I don’t have any problem with Brett, as long as he could help us, But I don’t know if we have the right role for him. I think he might want to start or close. The fit matters to the player, too.”
Experts believe that next few weeks will be critical when Victorino’s future will be determined with some leading team in the Major League.
