Texas Rangers crush Detroit Tiger 15-5 to win the ALCS – MLB Playoffs
Texas Rangers demolished Detroit Tigers 15-5 on Saturday, October 15 to take the six match series 4-2 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas.
The Rangers had a shaky start to the contest but they recovered quickly to establish complete control over the situation.
Knocking out the Tigers in ALCS game six, the Rangers made it to the World Series for the second straight year. Nelson Cruz, the big hitter, was once again brutal as he hit his record sixth home-run of the series in the post-season. Michael Young also smashed
a pair of doubles in one of the highest-scoring post-season innings ever as the Rangers became American League’s first repeat Champion in the last ten years.
"This a great trophy, we're real proud of it," Young said.
Manager Ron Washington was very pleased with the way his team played and he aimed to produce similar results in the upcoming World Series as well.
"We wanted to get to the World Series. But the bottom line is getting to the World Series and winning it. We feel pretty confident about ourselves," manager Ron Washington said. "More than anything else, the commitment they made in November after San Francisco
sent us home, they held true to it."
Rangers once again got off to a very slow start as they struggled to get a score on the board until their third inning. Miguel Cabrera homered to right in his first inning to get the Tigers on their way. Jhonny Peralta homered in the second to give the Tigers
a 2-0 lead.
However, Rangers came back strongly in the third inning of the match as Michael Young doubled to his left and Andrus and Hamilton scored. Under pressure, the Tigers continued to make unforced errors and by the end of the fifth inning, they were trailing
with a score of 4-10.
Rangers scored freely afterwards as well as Cabrera homered to left-centre in the eighth inning to secure a thumping 15-5 victory. Every batter in Texas’ line-up reached base at least once in the third. The Rangers scored the most runs ever in a post-season
clash against the Tigers and also the most in any post-season match since Yankees hammered Boston 19-8 in Game 3 of 2004 American League Championships.
The Rangers have made it to the coveted World Series, where they will be looking to dominate for the ultimate prize. Texas will be facing the powerful St. Louis Cardinals as they prepare for the much anticipated World Series. It will be interesting to see
which team will come out early to play aggressive and dominate the first game. All eyes will be on the Series as these two power-house teams collide.
