Texas Rangers crush Minnesota Twins 10-6 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers comprehensively beat the Minnesota Twins 10-6 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington, Texas on Thursday, August 23 in the opening game of their four match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Rangers dominated the Twins in almost all aspects of the game. Showing great courage and composure, the made an aggressive start to the contest and continued to pressurise their opponents with their brilliant tactics.
Starting pitcher Scott paid heavily for his mistakes on the mound. He was taken off after giving up three hits and two runs in just over two innings. Jared Burton took the loss as he gave up six runs on three hits.
Rangers’ starter Roy Oswalt, on the other hand, managed to overcome a shaky start to keep Twins on the defensive. He gave up four runs in five plus innings while striking-out four batters.
"I think you have to give a lot of credit to the organization, the players, the coaches and everyone," said Rangers’ Manager Ron Washington with a smile on his face. "We got there fast. I didn't get there alone. I just hope I can be here and win 500 more."
"I'm not going to get into that," Gardenhire said. "Everybody saw that, so I don't have to say anything about it."
"Down the stretch, he is our horse," Washington said of his offensive players in a post game interview. "So is Beltre, so is Moreland, so is Murphy. We've got a pretty good team."
Josh Hamilton, Ian Kinsler and Elvis Andrus displayed top quality hitting skills to put Texas in a commanding position. Hamilton, in particular, drove in crucial runs to play a key role in deciding the outcome of the clash.
Twins, on the other hand, were unable to take advantage of most scoring opportunities and eventually paid the price. Joe Mauer drove in the opening run and Ben Revere earned an RBI groundout to pitcher in the third to give Twins the early momentum. Denard
Span also made some lovely plays in the sixth and the ninth but his effort was never going to be enough.
