Texas Rangers defeat Los Angeles Angels 7-3 for second straight win – MLB Update
The Texas Rangers conquered the Los Angeles Angels 7-3 for the second straight win in the four-game series at Angel Stadium of Anaheim on Tuesday, August 16.
Rangers entered the game and made it to their name right from the start of the game, scoring two runs in the top of the first inning. They then added three more runs in the top of the third inning to elevate the lead to 5-0. Rangers added one each in the
fifth and sixth inning to finalise their scoring game.
The Rangers scored only three runs against starter Darren Holland, one in the bottom of the third and then two more in the bottom of the ninth inning.
Michael Young touched three hits, made two runs and three earned runs over his four at-bats. His first run was in the first inning while he entered his second run in the sixth inning. Josh Hamilton launched a ballistic homer in the third inning to score
two runs. Hamilton left the game in the top of the eighth inning due to back spasms.
Mitch Moreland drove in an RBI double in the third and designated hitter Yorvit Torrealba made an RBI single in the sixth inning.
Darren Holland worked just over eight innings and was about to complete another full game but the Angels’ Torii Hunter and Mark Trumbo eachmade a hit against him in the ninth inning to drop him from the spell. Hunter stretched his hammering streak to 14
games. However, Holland get his 11th win, taking seven strike-outs and allowing nine hits over 118 pitches long spell.
Angels’ Taylor Chatwood gave away five runs, eight hits and two walks over just two innings to get his ninth loss of the season. Trevor Bell resisted and tossed just over four innings to allow two runs on six hits. Horacio Ramirez tossed less than a complete
scoreless inning and Fernando Rodney allowed two walks and two hits over his two scoreless innings.
Rangers now are in the line of seventies with 71 wins including 32 at roads. The Angels, on the other hand lost their 58th game of the season and their current struggling situation might send them further below.
