Texas Rangers defeat Minnesota Twins 2-1 – MLB Recap
Texas Rangers defeated the Minnesota Twins 2-1 in the first game of their four-match regular series encounter on Thursday, April 25 at Target Field in Minneapolis.
The Rangers played as one unit and rattled the Twins with great force. Though the Twins tried hard but the Rangers were totally dominant on Thursday night when they outclassed the Twins in every department.
"Their two, three, four hitters are about the best you'll see in Major League Baseball, Going through them three times, he did a good job," Rangers manager Ron Washington said.
Rangers’ upfront batting and pitching lineup played certainly showed their best play and won the game with quite style.
On the other hand, the Twins seemed not confident during the entire game. They could not just play well and lost with bitter humiliation.
“We were one hit away, The kid had a live fastball, a live arm, The ball was jumping on our hitters. He was cutting it and had a nice little breaking ball," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said.
Nick Tepesch started the game for the Rangers. He pitched 6.2 innings and allowed one run on five hits. He allowed one earned run and struck out on 2.53 ERA.
“I didn't feel like I was extra out of ordinary, I felt like I commanded my pitches pretty well, and I felt like I was pretty good tonight," Tepesch said.
Joe Nathan pitched one inning and received one hit. He struck out one as his ERA remained consistent at 1.08.
The Rangers’ hitters, especially second baseman Adrian Beltre played well and scored early in the game. He scored one run on one hit as he also maintained his slugging percentage at .410.
Starter Vance Worley on the other hand, pitched first five innings for the Twins and allowed two runs and six hits. He allowed two earned runs and struck out three on 6.38 ERA. Though rest of Twins pitchers played well and did not allow any run, but it was
already too late as Twins were under extreme pressure and that very pressure cost them an important game.
