Texas Rangers disappointed at losing Game 3 of the American League Championship Series
The Texas Rangers lost their first game in the American League Championship Series in Game 3 at the Comerica Park in Detroit against the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday, October 11. The loss came with a disappointing cast of opinions and views from the club’s
players. Colby Lewis failed to restrict the home team as the Rangers lost 5 – 2.
There were many problems on the field but the club took a critical look on its performance. Nelson Cruz managed to hit a walk-off grand slam against the Tigers in Game 2 and he was the first to express his disappointment. The right fielder took no time in
passing his views as the night came to a close.
"Every loss is disappointing," Nelson Cruz said. "We expect to win every game, but it doesn't work like that. They're a good team. We'll come back tomorrow."
Elvis Andrus looked upset in the third inning when he grounded out into a double play. He had a chance to put the tick in Detroit’s defence but it did not go the Rangers way. Ian Kinsler was stealing the second base at the time of Doug Fister’s pitch to
Andrus and the shortstop connected well to send the ball to Johnny Peralta.
The Detroit shortstop wasted no time in calling Kinsler out and then he sent the ball to first base to put Andrus out of the game. The Texas shortstop was clearly mad at himself driving the ball straight to the centre infield.
"I was upset at myself," Andrus said. "I should have pulled the ball, but I was trying to go the other way and hit it up the middle. I always get upset at myself when I don't get the job done."
The Texas manager Ron Washington supported Colby Lewis, who gave up four runs from eight hits in 5.2 innings. However he also called Fister the main reason for the Tigers’ win in Game 3.
"Colby kept us in the ballgame," Rangers manager Ron Washington said. "It was Fister that did the job out there tonight."
The Rangers still have a game left to play in Comerica Park and they will be hoping to pick up a winner with Matt Harrison on the mound this time.
