Texas Rangers edge Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 – MLB Recap
The Texas Rangers edged past the Tampa Bay Rays 6-5 in the first game of their three-match regular series encounter on Monday, August 27 at Rangers Ballpark in Texas.
Adrian Beltre played well and earned a great victory for his team. He scored one run and added four RBIs on his consistent .530.
He remained calm at the plate and proved one of the winning factors for the Rangers.
"We were trying to look for a pitch we could handle, He comes after hitters, so we were ready. I don't know, Probably. I don't keep track. Right now, I feel good. I feel comfortable, and have confidence offensively." said Beltre.
Rangers’ manager Ron Washington said, "He's locked in, We need everything he's giving us right now. He's one of the guys in our lineup that makes it work. We screwed up the first inning, but the offenses wouldn't stop."
Along with Beltre, the Rangers’ shortstop Elvis Andrus also played aggressive and scored two runs on two hits. His four at-bats proved helpful to the Rangers as they eased past the Rays.
Left fielder Josh Hamilton scored one run and smashed two hits on his four at-bats. He also played good and never let the Rays’ pitchers dominate while he maintained his slugging percentage at .582.
Nelson Cruz added one on his single hit as he added RBI as well on his four at-bats. He hit the Rays’ pitchers hard and earned a decent victory for the Rangers.
Designated hitter Michael Young also added one run and smashed one hit while his slugging percentage also remained consistent at .349.
Not only batters, the Rangers’ pitchers also played well and proved helpful in their first victory of the series.
Though Derek Holland pitched six innings and allowed five runs, but he still managed to win the game for the Rangers as he maintained his ERA at 4.90.
Relief pitcher Alexi Ogando also showed his class as he did not received any run or hit. He struck-out two Rays’ hitters as his ERA also remained consistent at 2.70.
The Rangers will be happy with their performance as they managed to take a decent victory over the Rays.
