Texas Rangers edge past the Minnesota Twins with 6-2 win - MLB Update
The Texas Rangers put another extraordinary show on Saturday, April 14, to beat the Minnesota Twins 6-2. In a game predominated by the Texas Rangers’ offence, Yu Darvish did his bit with excellent pitching – despite some insurmountable challenges as bases were loaded, bringing another victory for the team.
While the Rangers’ hitters were aggressively pursuing the Minnesota Twins pitchers, Darvish went for 5.2 innings, allowing nine hits, and conceding two runs with 4.76 ERA, with four strikeouts to his credit.
"The main adjustment I have to make right now is knowing the hitters, knowing the teams," Darvish said through an interpreter. "If I can start to learn those hitters and record them in my mind, those are the adjustments that I have to go through. It'll get much better as the season goes on."
Among the hitters, it was Josh Hamilton who had a homer in his 3-for-5, while Adrian Beltre also went three hits to his credit, scoring a run coupled with that of three hits that Nelson Cruz had with a run.
Yu Darvish, on the other, drew attention due largely to his tough game that he had in his debut to score a victory. The team manager shed some light on it.
"He was much better," said Rangers manager Ron Washington said while drawing a comparison between the debut of the starter on April 10 and the game on Saturday. "Still have to work on getting ahead of hitters quicker. But he was much better today with his command."
Compared to him, Nick Blackburn of the Minnesota Twins also gave up two runs in his 5.1 innings. The Texas Rangers heavily relied on the relief pitchers as well who did not disappoint the team with their effective pitching.
Alexi Ogando allowed no hits in his 0.2 inning while Mike Adams conceded a hit in his one-inning spell. Joe Nathan pitched a scoreless ninth to end the game with 6-2 victory after Texas Rangers hitters scored two runs in Pen Perkins spell in the ninth.
With the victory, the Texas Rangers now lead the three-game series by 2-0 as the last game will be played on Sunday.
