Texas Rangers envisage victory for 2012 – MLB Update
The Texas Rangers’ manager Ron Washington stated on Thursday, March 8, that the team was focused on 2012, not thinking about what happened respectively in 2010 and 11. Asserting that the team is confident, he feels the club will perform up to expectations.
"We're not going to have a hangover," he said. "We're still hungry. More than that we're confident we can play baseball. Everything else will take care of itself. We're not thinking about what happened in 2010 and 2011."
Texas Rangers had woefully discomforting end to face when they entered the best-of-seven World Series finals in 2010 and 11. In 2010, it was the San Francisco Giants that stole the show and the St. Louis Cardinals came out as victors in 2011’s grand finale.
The setback was huge; something they had to reconcile with. It is a fact that no player in the team denies.
"I think it took a couple of weeks to let everything process and just get over it," designated hitter Michael Young said. "The last thing you want to do is sit there and say, `I'm good, I'm good, I'm good' and never really get over it. You've got to give
yourself some time."
Much as disappointing the past two years have remained for the Texas Rangers, there are reasons that fill the club with relative confidence. Their offense is ever stronger; the defence has got strengthened to the point of invulnerability.
While there might not be C. J. Wilson to charge up the defence, the presence of Neftali Feliz and Yu Darvish, among others, will be the source of strength for the Rangers. With such a cohesive force that the Rangers have put together, beating them this year
will be an uphill task.
Although the end result of the previous two years’ finals was contrary to what the Rangers had wished, 2012 will be the harbinger of change. The team will be looking to put in a good performance during Spring Training to get ready for the long regular season
ahead. If luck is on their side, the Rangers are incontrovertibly among the favourites to carry this year’s title for the first time in the history of franchise; an awaited glory finally coming true.
