Texas Rangers face new test of determination
When the Texas Rangers faced off against the San Francisco Giants at the AT&T Park, most fans knew the home team advantage was not going to prevail and there would have to be a good attack to penetrate Matt Cain’s superb pitching.
Ron Washington’s men had a hard task on their hands and as the game got under way, many supporters believed the visiting side was starting slow. But, by the midway, things began to spell out a shocking shutout victory for the hosts.
That is exactly what occurred as none of the Rangers’ hitting faction member scored against the competitors in the duration of the match. Elvis Andrus did not connect and the rest of the batting squad turned up nothing to put the
Texans on top.
Texas pitcher C. J. Wilson held the opponents to just 2 runs in the 6 innings but that constriction was not going to last long as the Rangers’ bullpen contributed to the loss in the game by conceding 6 runs in just one inning.
Darren Oliver was the first one to pitch as a reliever and he did his job well by allowing just 1 hit in one inning. The rest were horrible to say the least, Darren O’Day went for a run, but took out 2 hitters in the process. Derek Holland was the worse of
the pen as he conceded 3 runs. Mark Lowe went for 2 and Michael Kirkman was the last man to enter the fray, only to concede a run before striking out the last man on the plate.
The performance reflected on the poor morale following the team back home. Rangers hope they will strike back and it is manager Ron Washington who will try to get his team back to their best form.
The gaffer recently issued a statement following the match and said, "A day at a time, staying in the moment, but trusting each other and knowing there's more than one game to be played. It's a seven-game series. If you put too
much emphasis on what happened the day before and not learn from it, then it can confuse you the next day. We're not confused."
The skipper is hopeful for the future and stresses on how it is too early to call the game. He said, “There's still a lot of baseball left to be played. We certainly don't feel like we're defeated. We're heading home. They took
care of us in their ballpark; now we're headed to ours."
