Texas Rangers general manager Jon Daniels praises club unity – MLB Playoffs
The Texas Rangers went to the American League Division Series on Tuesday, October 4 when they beat the Tampa Bay Rays 4-3 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. General Manager of the Rangers, Jon Daniels took time out to address the press from Rangers Ballpark
in Arlington.
Apart from praising manager Ron Washington, the top management representative took the opportunity to thank the players and the other club personnel that got the team to the Championship Series for the second year in a row. Waiting to know who their opponents
will be, the Rangers are working hard in training and they have the focus of reaching the World Series again.
Losing to the San Francisco Giants in the 2010 World Series was heart wrenching but the Rangers have come back strong in 2011 to put the fans back on their feet. With the addition of Adrian Beltre, Mike Napoli, Koji Uehara and Mike Adams, the club looks
stronger than ever. These new players have added depth to the line-up.
Rangers went on top with the franchise’s best winning record in history. The club won 96 times in 2011 and they were ranked second in wins after the New York Yankees. Daniels is delighted to see his team defend the American League Championship Series title
and there is much optimism in the air that the club can go all the way this year.
"I'm proud of the players, and I'm proud of the whole organization," he said. "It's special how many good people contributed to this, from ownership giving us what we need to our scouting and player development guys. You look up and down the roster and can
see how many good calls those guys made. Our fans set a new attendance record, and our players set a club record for most wins in a season.”
The general manager concluded his statement by saying that the club goes out to the field with a goal to sustain success. The Rangers will be looking to carry their winning momentum forward in the American League Championship Series.
