Texas Rangers hammer Los Angeles Angels 13-6 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers eased past Los Angeles Angels 13-6 at Rangers Ball Park in Arlington, Texas on Sunday, May 13 in the final game of their three match series of the 2012 Major League Baseball regular season.
Texas, once again, showed the depth and quality they have in their offence and defence as they dominated their rivals right through the game. Texas’s hitters put up a strong show to post thirteen runs on the board and although the Angels put up a decent
fight, they never looked getting close to the Rangers’ finale score.
For the Rangers, Adrian Beltre, Nelson Cruz, Josh Hamilton and Mike Napoli made significant contributions in deciding the outcome of the game. Hamilton, who hit four home runs in a game a few days ago, will be looking to continue his excellent form throughout
this year to earn another huge pay day at the end of the season.
Angels’ starting pitcher Jered Weaver allowed eight runs in just over three innings, which included a grand slam hit from Cruz. Weaver is an integral part of Angels’ pitching rotation. Since making his debut for the Angels back in 2006, he has helped his
team secure memorable wins. Showing great throwing skills and ability to handle pressure, he was named the pitcher of the month for April 2011.
"I got him out in front of a changeup. He was able to elevate it and get it out," Weaver said. "At other places, it wouldn't have been a homer."
"As the game went on, he left a couple of breaking balls in the heart of the plate," Scioscia said. "Before he was 2-0 to Cruz, he was 0-2 to (David) Murphy but couldn't put him away. With two strikes, Young hit a double down the right-field line. That's
not a forgiving lineup."
With their win on Saturday evening, the Rangers also improved their record to 23-12. The 2011 World Series finalists have looked in outstanding form since the start of the season.
Manager Ron Washington will be very satisfied person these days. Not only are the Rangers one of the most successful teams in the American League right now but they have also shown signs of unity. It will be exciting to see if the Rangers can continue their
excellent form to have another successful season this year.
The Angels, on the other hand, will have to work hard on weaker links of their game to turn things around in their next series. After they put up a fighting performance in the second game, the fans had high hopes from them but they let them down big time.
It will be exciting to see if the Angels can turn the tables in their next series.
