Texas Rangers happy 2-0 ahead in ALCS as club heads to Comerica Park for Game 3 – MLB Playoffs
The Texas Rangers were glad on Monday, October 10 to be ahead of their rivals, Detroit Tigers, in the American League Championship Series as the club won the latest Game 2 in exhilarating fashion as Nelson Cruz smashed the Tigers with a walk-off grand slam
in the 11th inning at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
The finisher enabled the Texans to go 2-0 in the series and that means they will be better prepared for Game 3 at Comerica Park, Detroit.
Rangers celebrated the victory as the Tigers moved to their hotels to pack up and leave for home. One Texas player who had a chance to hit a walk off homer in the ninth took the time to talk to the press about Nelson Cruz’s Grand Slam.
"An unbelievable game," said third baseman Adrian Beltre.
Another infielder took the moment to sum up the last two games that have seen both the Rangers and the Tigers fight tooth and nail for the victories.
"This was an instant classic ... an unbelievable baseball game," second baseman Ian Kinsler said.
Tigers’ manager, Jim Leyland had the same thing to say as he congratulated the Rangers.
"It has been two great games," Leyland said. "They earned it, and we didn't quite get it done."
With Nelson Cruz on fire and the rest of the squad pitching in, Rangers’ manager Ron Washington will hope the club can end the series in the next two games. The club managed to reach the World Series for the first time in 2010.
The management is now hoping to win the title this year and record another historic moment. The Rangers may not have Cliff Lee, but they have all the teamwork they need to go on top. Texas will be looking to come out strong and dominate the game from the
start to maintain their winning momentum. It will be interesting to see how the Detroit counters the surging Rangers and try to contain their powerful offence. Both teams will be battling out and fighting hard for a win.
