Texas Rangers hitter Michael Young eyes club consistency in Game 3
The Texas Rangers were on top of their form when they brought down the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 2 of the World Series at the Busch Stadium in St. Louis. They won the encounter 2 – 1 in a ninth inning rally kicked off by second baseman Ian Kinsler. Now,
first baseman, Michael Young, is looking for the club to maintain its consistency on the field in Game 3 when the two teams meet for Game 3. Young talked to the press from the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington on Friday, October 21.
The Rangers drew a series draw after Game 2 on Thursday, October 20, but the club now needs just three more wins to lift the ultimate prize in major league baseball. They have the right power and the right hitting coach to get them through their worst times.
With manager Ron Washington tweaking the squad on various occasions, one can think of the best to come out of the Texans hitting stint.
"We just need to stick to our approach - stay consistent and stay fundamentally sound, be aggressive in the strike zone," Young said. "Simplifying fundamental things is something we do well, and if it doesn't happen in the last game, we still expect it to
happen in the next game.
"We look at it as we got the win on Thursday night. Offensively we know we're capable of doing a lot but we're not focused on that. We're focused on staying loose, having fun and staying with our approach."
Young has been a phenomenal figure in the Rangers’ line up and he is looking to make the best of his opportunity on the plate and the field. Playing as a designated hitter during the regular season, Young had a hitting average of .338. He had 106 RBIs, 213
hits and 88 runs to his name.
He has been quiet in the postseason but his batting average is climbing on a daily basis. Currently his average is .200 and he was exemplary on Thursday when he smashed the ball for a sacrifice, to get Elvis Andrus home with a 2 – 1 game-winning score line.
