Texas Rangers’ hitters speak up on team’s recent performance as club goes through to playoffs
The Texas Rangers finally took the top position in the American League West when they beat the Seattle Mariners 5-3 at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington and watched the Los Angeles Angels lose to the Oakland Athletics on Friday, September 23.
The Rangers took out their opposition well before the A’s registered their win against the second seated Angels.
Rangers had a win left on their cards to reach the final three in the post-season derby. They either needed another win or they needed the Angels to lose. The latter occurred and the club rejoiced at the news. However, before the Angels lost, Elvis Andrus
and David Murphy of the Texas ball club had a lot to say about their team’s momentum in the recent days.
The club managed three homers in their game against the Mariners and all hits came from the regulars stars of the team. Adrian Beltre hit a two-run home-run to lead designated hitter Michael Young to the dugout in the second inning. Josh Hamilton, the 2010
American League Most Valuable Player, hit a subsequent homer in the third inning off Mariners starter Anthony Vasquez.
Rangers then smashed another home-run through Craig Gentry who pushed himself and Nelson Cruz home.
Shortstop Elvis Andrus had a lot to say about the team and their recent form.
"We're playing our best baseball right now," Andrus said. "That's what you're looking for at the end of the season and that's what we're looking for going into the postseason."
Another star in the Rangers’ line-up, David Murphy had a few words of enlightenment to share to the press after the game as well.
"Last year we had a bunch of guys who had never experienced postseason before," outfielder David Murphy said. "We could taste it and we were pressing in September. This month is different. Our experience is really helping."
The Rangers are now in the playoffs and they will be looking sharp when they will compete with one of the three teams that have ascended to the post-season competition this year.
