Texas Rangers humiliate Cleveland Indians, 11-2 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers’ displayed an extraordinary performance right through the game and gave the Rangers an easy 11-2 win against the Cleveland Indians at Progressive Field, Cleveland on June 3.
It was the Rangers’ second consecutive win against the Indians in a four-game series. The pitchers lifted the potential of their teams by giving no run during the first inning. The Rangers got one run and a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Mitch Moreland
scored a single run on the drive of Endy Chavez towards deep right-field.
In the third inning, the Rangers took a 2-0 lead when Michael Young hit a grounder towards second base and Elvis Andrus posted a single run. Josh Hamilton got out at second base during the third inning.
The pitchers controlled the score of the batters in the fourth and fifth inning. Alexi Ogando pitched superbly throughout as he threw eight innings with an ERA of 2.20 and permitted just one run on four hits including one earned run. He struck-out six batters
and allowed just one walk on his 100 pitches.
The Rangers’ manager, Ron Washington was pleased with the way the team performed right through the game. Washington said, “I like what Ogando did. I like what our offense did. We had balance throughout the lineup and we made all the defensive plays.”
The Indians broke the silence of their fans during the sixth inning by adding one run on the score-board to reduce the lead 2-1. Shin-Soo Choo hit a grounder into a double play and Michael Brantley scored one run.
The seventh inning went in favour of the Rangers as they made five runs and took their lead 7-1. Ian Kinsler, Andrus and Adrian Beltre each contributed one run while Hamilton hit a solo homer (352 feet) to right-field and Nelson Cruz homered (402 feet) to
right-centre. In the eighth inning, the Rangers got a 10-1 lead when Mike Napoli, Chavez and Kinsler posted three runs collectively on the double-run shot of Andrus towards left-field.
Both teams scored one run in the ninth inning to end the game 11-2. Moreland posted the last run for the Rangers when Chavez drove to centre-field while Asdrubal Cabrera struck a one-run homer (393 feet) to right-field for the Indians.
