Texas Rangers humiliate Houston Astros 4-0 – MLB Update
Texas Rangers defeated the Houston Astros with 4-0 thumping on Wednesday April 03 at Minute Maid Park in Houston Texas in the third game of their first three-match series of 2013 Major League Baseball season.
With this win, the Rangers also won the three-match clash 2-1. This was their second consecutive victory after losing the first game from Astros 2-8.
“Yesterday, it was more about their guy, today it was more about our guys, We just had our guys expanding the zone way too often. We need to make adjustment and do a better job. The fastballs that we had an opportunity to do something with, we either fouled
them off or didn't get them (in play)," Houston manager Bo Porter said when asked about his team’s overall performance.
Rangers’ starter Alexi Ogando pitched over six innings and allowed four hits only. He struck out 10 Astros hitters and remained almost unplayable during his entire spell.
"It was a spectacular game, and it certainly motivated me to pitch well," Ogando said in Spanish through a translator and told the reporters about his performance.
Later in the game, the Texas manager Ron Washington also said for his team’s star performer, "Ogando is known for striking folks out, He had a good fastball, he has a tremendous slider and now he's got changeup and curveball to go with all of that."
On the other hand, the Astros pitchers played poorly and could not stop the Rangers hammering. They did not pitch well and eventually lost the game with bitter humiliation.
Veteran starter Philip Humber started the game for the Astros and was only able to strike out two Rangers’ hitters. He pitched 5.2 innings and allowed one run on one hit along with one earned run. His ERA went to 1.59 as he was later replaced by reliever
Wesley Wright.
The other poor performer of day by the Astros was relief pitcher Hector Ambriz who received four hits and three runs. He also allowed three earned runs and was only able to strike out one Rangers’ batter on his blistering high ERA of 27.00.
