Texas Rangers humiliate Minnesota Twins 20-6 – MLB Update
Backed by a phenomenal rotation, Texas Rangers comprehensively defeated the Minnesota Twins 20-6 on Monday, July 25 at Rangers Ballpark.
The ever improving Texas Rangers had a 27-hit game to stun the already awed crowd.
The high-scoring game began with Nick Blackburn’s first inning endeavour against the Rangers as the starter. Looking forward to a big game, the 4-hits inning brought three runs for the Rangers as Josh Hamilton drove in the first run followed by a two-run
homer of Michael Young.
Derek Holland, who threw the first inning scoreless, remained equally strong in the second to make a smooth journey into limiting the Twins’ offence. Like the first inning, the second inning also brought about almost similar scoring and hitting patterns.
Ian Kinsler snapped a single followed by another run of Hamilton and a run coming off Michael Young’s bat that piled up the score to 6-0 in the 4-hits second inning.
Kinsler hit a three-run homer in the third to make it 9-0 for Texas followed by the Twins’ Michael Cuddyer’s single. The fourth inning brought five runs and 5-hits against Jose Mijares who replaced Blackburn.
Mitch Moreland snapped a two-run homer, Endy Chavez, Kinsler and Hamilton drove in singles to take the score to 14-1 for the Rangers. Chavez sparked once again in the fifth to take in two runs followed by another two-run RBI of Elvis Endrus, making the score
16-1 for the Rangers.
While the Rangers’ offence was mercilessly pursuing the Twins’ starter, Holland masterfully maintained his dominance in the game with scoreless innings back-to-back.
"My focus was easy to keep," Holland said. "It's just every time I went back to the mound I felt like I had to get loose again. The main thing was to throw strikes and make sure the momentum was in our favour. I can't say enough about the offense."
The runs kept coming Texas’ way with big hits as the Twins found themselves unable to put up a fight. Tsuyoshi Nishioka scored a run, Jason Kubel drove in a two-run RBI and Trevor Plouffe scored an RBI single to take the Twins score to five.
“It was fun," Hamilton said. "Obviously you're not going to do it all the time, but when you do it, it's fun. It seemed like everybody fed off each other. You have these games once in a while and you just prefer to be on our end rather than the other end."
Neftali Feliz pitched the last inning, allowing only a run to Cuddyer, to seal the fate of game in the Rangers favour, as they won the first of the three-game series 20-6.
